Eat well look good

How you look and feel is directly proportional to what you eat!

No exclusions, even on vacay!!!

It is essential to me that while on a vacation, I pay special attention to my daily intake of food and physical movement. Eating seasonal and local food is super critical to me to ensure that i am consuming freshly cooked, easily available ingredients in my food.

An inadequate diet can lead to fatigue, impaired decision-making, and can slow down reaction time. In fact, a poor diet can actually aggravate, and may even lead to, stress and depression.

I am very particular about shopping for a few essential fridge and pantry items wherever i travel, which means I ensure I have access to a fridge in my apartment where I am staying for the duration of the visit. A few such essentials are

  • Rye/Whole grain bread
  • Ghee/unsalted butter
  • Eggs
  • Dark leafy greens
  • Unsalted nuts
  • Fresh local fruit
  • Organic milk/plant based milk
  • Local cheese

It’s no surprise that eating well affects your body in positive ways. A study published in Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases in 2015 analyzed the effects of three diets: a Mediterranean diet supplemented with nuts, a Mediterranean diet supplemented with olive oil and a low-fat, calorie-restricted diet. The most health benefits emerged from the Mediterranean diets, which improved blood pressure levels, insulin sensitivity, inflammation and other markers of heart disease.

I am very glad that I was able to enjoy a delicious Mediterranean diet during my recent trip to Greece.
